USA : Democrats’ statements support Trump’s actions in Venezuela, says a top congressional intelligence official.

One of these bills, introduced by Democratic Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz (Florida), called for “ending Nicolás Maduro’s usurpation of presidential powers,” citing Maduro’s subversion of his own country’s electoral process.

Another, drafted by Democratic Representative Haley Stevens (Michigan), denounced the Venezuelan government’s kidnapping practices, demanding that Maduro’s regime be designated a “state supporting arbitrary detention.”

Crawford’s resolution comes as congressional Democrats have sharply criticized the Trump administration’s operation in Venezuela, calling Maduro’s capture earlier this month an act of war that should have required congressional approval. Republicans responded, arguing that Trump used targeted force to bring a notorious criminal to justice.

Trump against Maduro, each is the enemy of the other

“Elissa Slotkin introduced a bill in the 118th Congress that defined Venezuelan politician Nicolás Maduro as a Person of Concern who has engaged in repeated and serious conduct that is detrimental to the national security of the United States.”

“[DeLauro] introduced a bill similarly redefining the Maduro regime, describing it as having engaged in repeated and serious conduct that is detrimental to the national security of the United States or the safety of American citizens,” Crawford’s bill points out.

Crawford believes these statements contradict the current version of events held by Democrats. He cites a post on X by the House Democratic leader.

“After Nicolás Maduro’s arrest, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries said, ‘This was not a law enforcement operation. They are lying to the American people when they say that,’” the bill states. “Representative Delia Ramirez posted on X: ‘Under the guise of freedom, a warmongering administration lied to justify an invasion and is dragging us into an illegal and endless war,’” the text reads.

Crawford believes Trump did exactly what the Democrats demanded.

“The Democrats have introduced numerous bills condemning the Maduro regime, declaring Maduro an illegitimate president, and urging the United States to take decisive action,” Crawford said.

“Under President Trump’s leadership, the United States has taken control of the situation to secure our neighborhood in the Western Hemisphere, sending a strong message to adversaries around the world, even going so far as to consider malign actions in our region,” Crawford added.
